What about a sustainable wage? Affordability? Opportunities for people of color? Santa Monica has the luxury of being a fairly well-to-do community with high cost of real estate and high paying jobs within commute distance. People without sustainable wages are excluded based on the cost of living and availability of well-paying jobs. The economic factor is not addressed. Neither is diversity nor communities that pay the price for not having higher paid wage-earners willing to live in them to sustain services. This point of view appears to be based on privilege.
