    It’s so difficult to find a center between the past, future, and present. Thank you for the reminder that parenting IS hard and working towards becoming/being/hoping to become a mindful parent is also hard, yet both create opportunities for growth if we are open to it.

    As someone who has written parenting books (Smart Love: The Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Regulating, and Enjoying Your Child) and has advised hundreds of parents, I am always happy when parents realize that perfection is not that standard for parenting. If you love and care for your children, treat them kindly and compassionately, and manage their behavior so as to keep them safe without expecting them to have the graces of adults, your children will copy you and learn to treat themselves and others with respect and compassion.
