This morning, for no apparent reason, I decided to compile a list of dumb-ass stuff I have done in my life. I stopped at 50 items. I am not talking little things, I am talking big ticket items that might have led to serious, even devastating consequences. I showed it to my wife. She wasn’t surprised – after 25 years with me she had heard of most of these and witnessed some of them first hand. I then did another dumb thing – tore up the list, put it into a frying pan and set it on fire on the back porch. No, I didn’t burn down the house. But just now my wife came into the room with “Did you burn something?” Oh, well … The age of wisdom is hopefully ahead.
The list is still growing in my mind. And so is a sense of self-acceptance.
