Jussie Smollett = Greed

I was watching The View on ABC this week, and there was a heated discussion on the recent attack surrounding Jussie Smollett, which was primarily rooted in a discussion on race, and the LGBTQ community. However, one of the hosts, Megan McCain, had a different angle on the allegations. She stated the following:

“Jussie Smollett’s a ‘Sociopath‘ if he staged his own attack.”

It caught my attention when she said this cause I had watched another recent interview with Robin Roberts and Smollett, and an expert in body language pointed out that he lacked eye contact when discussing the attack, which could connote he was a pathological liar.

Then a friend pointed out to me that he suffered TDS.  I had to look it up cause I’ve never heard that term before.

Urban dictionary defines TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, as the following:

Unhappiness caused by the election of Donald Trump to the Presidency of the United States. Sufferers display an inordinate loathing for and preoccupation with Donald Trump.

One example of TDS could be the fact that Smollett desperately lied about being attacked by two white men screaming,“This is MAGA country!” On the flip side, people are reporting that this is about money, and he was looking to get sympathy to get a raise on the hit show Empire. My friend called this Celebrity Syndrome which I also have never heard of before, and I couldn’t find a definition of it online but, I’d imagine it has something to do with entitlement, and becoming toxic by fame.

Now, I don’t know what the guy has, BUT, it’d be nice to shift the dialogue on a national level to include information on this, for it is an opportunity for us to use this platform to educate others on Axis II disorders. Narcissistic Personality Disorders and Antisocial Personality Disorders are somewhat common language for people as they have been around for decades, but TDS is fairly new to me.

So the question now remains. If he does suffer from TDS, or gets clinically diagnosed with some other personality disorder, is he going to admit it? And should he admit it, if that is the case, will people show empathy and forgiveness?  That is yet to be determined.

However, in conclusion, do I think Smollett has TDS? No. I think he pulled the Trump card to try and trump us so to speak. As far as the salary increase argument is concerned. Yes, I think that was the most obvious motivator to propel him to do such a thing so, one has to have some major underlying issue.

Having said that, if I had to point out one word to describe his issue. It’s simple: Greed.
