The Golden Rule To Understanding Sociopaths

If you are stuck in a relationship with a sociopath, and find yourself making excuse after excuse to justify his or her behavior, here is one rule that you should keep in mind that might offer you some help:

Sociopaths know the difference between right and wrong but, don’t feel it. In other words, they don’t have a conscience to check them BUT they do have a brain to decipher the difference between good and bad so why would anyone choose to be bad.

When I figured that out, I became free. After all the excuses I have used to justify poor behavior, once I realized that just because you don’t emotionally feel right and wrong your brain knows the difference and that is enough. It’s hard to imagine living without a conscience but, it’s impossible to live without a brain so, guess what, sociopaths will never be off the hook.  There will never be an excuse to make sense of their decisions cause at the root they have a choose. We all have a choice so, even if sociopaths don’t feel guilt or empathy they know right from wrong.

How and why human beings form a conscience is complicated but, black and white, right and wrong, and good or bad, are cerebral and concrete so next time you find yourself making excuses or, being manipulated by a sociopath, stop and know the golden rule. And be free!
