4 Small Signs of Depression Part II

Recently I wrote about signs I have personally experienced with regards to undergoing a small depression. I found the comments informative and helpful and thought I would do a follow up blog on more signs of personal red flags that I’ve experienced and have learned to watch out for when I am going through a small depression.

  1. Sunglasses: When I wear sunglasses indoors and feel better, I know that’s a subtle sign.
  2. Hair: My hair isn’t particularly a mess but I find myself wearing it the same way over and over. I pull it back in a small pony tail without any variety. I don’t wear it down, I don’t blow dry it straight, I don’t use any product, my roots start coming in and I don’t dye it. I just have this plain go to look that I wear the same way every day.
  3. My bed: I always make my bed the second I get up, but, if I am undergoing a depression, I’ll leave it a mess and maybe get to it later. So, instead of my whole place being a mess, there are minor signs that warn me. When is the last time I dusted the book shelf?
  4. TV: Comfort television. I will find one show that I like and watch it over and over again. Even though I know what’s going to happen, I find comfort in watching it.

Everyone experiences depression, but not everyone’s depression is the same. We all have signs that warn us that we need help, so, it’s important to be aware of your signs, and seek help before things get worse and a deeper depression takes hold.
