    You forgot “To escape an abusive partner”
    Sometimes the only way a victim sees out of the abuse is to do something so “wrong” that they are labeled the bad person and are allowed out of the relationship.
    More frequent with emotional abuse than physical abuse for obvious reasons.
    This also allows the victim to hide the fact that they were abused to the outside world. Because we still live in a “Why didn’t you just leave?” society, it can be more difficult to try to validate staying in an abusive relationship for a long period of time than to live down being a cheater.

      Great thoughts Stephanie. I definitely agree with you ’cause I know some use cheating as an escape to an abusive partner. Thank you for this article.
