In other words, have a deadline.  When you have a deadline set, you have a goal.  You are more focused on the task at hand and will manage your time better.  In addition, break your work down into smaller pieces.  This will make your work less overwhelming.  On an even further note, consider working with another co-worker to help better manage your time and complete projects in an efficient manner.
