Why There Is Not One Best Type Of Treatment For ADHD

there's not one best treatment for ADHDIntroduction

You may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or know someone who has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Either way, you may be wondering what is the best type of treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Is it therapy? Is it medication? Is it a combination of both therapy and medication? Well, the answer is neither. According to Healthline, “There’s no known cure for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).” The question remains why is this the case. This article will explore why there is not one best treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Everyone Is Different

Everyone is a different individual. If medication works for one person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it may not work for another person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. If therapy works for one person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it may not work for another person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Hence, to get to my point, you are your own best judgment of what the right type of treatment is for you, whether it is medication, therapy, or a combination of medication and therapy. Use your best judgment. You are your own best source.

Everyone’s Body Chemistry Is Different

In addition to stating everyone is different, I would also like to bring up another important point. To be specific, everyone’s body chemistry is different. Everyone has a different genetic makeup that makes each person who they are. Since everyone’s body chemistry is different, one type of medication may not have the same exact benefit for each person. If adderall works for one person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it may not work for another person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. If vyvanse works for one person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it may not work for another person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Every person is different, and everyone reacts to medication differently.

Conclusion

With that said, there is not one type of treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Why? The answer remains everyone is different. Everyone has different preferences. One person might prefer just medication, while another person might prefer just therapy. In addition, another person might prefer a combination of both medication and therapy. It all depends on the person with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and what is the best type of treatment for them, on an individual level. Everyone is different. On a further note, everyone has a different body chemistry. We are all unique.
