We can change our behavior by doing the opposite every time we have tendency to please others and focus on figuring out what you want in life and pursue your own fulfillment. Article mentions that Ryan does not even know what he wants and instead of figuring it out himself and putting the effort, he is focusing on fulfilling other people’s dreams. He basically avoids taking responsibly to create his own fulfillment. He seems to be a person who has no control over his life. He is allowing other people to choose every aspect of his life and his reality. In life, when we are not choosing, we become a victim. If you are okay getting through life fulfilling other people’s needs and expectations, than you have to ask yourself how much do you exist for yourself and for others? Of course it is good to do for others however when you get too busy taking care of other people, then it becomes a problem. You are not only neglecting yourself, you are also being selfish to your own existence. You can benefit from reading articles about “refusal skills” and “how to say “No”. When you start practicing those skills, you will get good at it.
