Darth Vader in the original three films was more a sociopath than a borderline, methinks.

I found this very interesting. Having been a Star Wars fan since I was kid, I am not surprised by this diagnosis.

I love the idea of “diagnosing” Darth Vader and all, but I think that Psychiatry Research could find topics more worthy of publication… I think it’s great fun for blogging and chatrooms and makes for a great discussion, but the fact that a peeer-reviewed scientific journal considers it worthy of publication space is kind of pathetic. Nevertheless, it’s a fun topic for debate in a forum like this. 🙂

Sonia I agree, but the report was done looking at his younger years as Anakin Skywalker. I think when you look at the whole history… I’m sure the empire has a good mental health plan too…

Ya, Melissa, I sure Lukas was going for a “crazy and scary” Darth. But, BPD wasn’t even in the book in the 70’s do I don’t think they had any real diagnoses in mind.

Kate, ya it fun, but the article also looked at many different heroes and villains… I guess the French researchers has some time on their hands to look at our pop culture.
