“Recovery is a process!” Maybe, like me, you too have used that blanket statement to describe our recovery. Per chance, you’re having a conversation with a friend or loved one. They start to ask you about your mental state. Yes, these friends are close enough that they know about our mental health diagnosis. And your friend, like most good friends, recognizes our extremes and our subtle mood changes.
Road To Recovery
Maybe our friend noticed and has questioned how things are going on our road to recovery.
Their question could be as simple as saying “how are you doing?”
Simple enough of a question but it packs a punch when we answer it truthfully. So, instead of the honest answer, the one that describes our feelings and changes we are experiencing…We give the simplest response as possible. Maybe we say “we’re fine,” “we’re okay,” or even the old “recovery is a process.”
All are fine simple answers but, the next round of questions may reveal the depths of our friendship.
If we are struggling so much that a friend or loved one not only notice our mood changes and are questioning our stability, for the most part essentially asking if they can help. Our blanket state of mind to describe our feelings may be a disservice.

We’ve talked about taking medication the last few blog posts. Whether you are for medication or for something stronger and all natural like COFFEE, I feel it’s a personal choice.
