Medication Shaming? Shame on you! Mental Health medication is not perfect; requiring many changes for each peer. Reaching a point in our knowledge of our mental state that we conclude we NEED HELP is extremely challenging and can take years or even decades before we ask for help.
Over-Medication.com is part of the Mental Health Humor cartoons family. The series focus is all about my experiences with my medication. The cartoon characters are alive medicine bottles and experiencing life on medication. There is no shame taking meds, and not shame highlighting side-effects.
Shame The Price We Pay
What might have held us back was feelings of shame. Shame is the monster that kept persecuting me and preventing me from asking for help for many years. Suffering in silence, each day more distressing than the next, day in and day out, the emotional agony and misery had me wanting to die – until the ‘want’ became attempts to kill myself.
Even then I refused to seek the help I needed due to the shame felt. The torment tortured me to and I turned to cutting and burning to try to ease the pain. I turned unhealthy self-medication to try to get a drop of relief.
The price of shame cost me years of emotional torture, cost me my dignity, cost me precious time with a loved one, cost me jobs, friends, and ultimately–almost cost me my life. Shame has too high a price!

We’ve talked about taking medication the last few blog posts. Whether you are for medication or for something stronger and all natural like COFFEE, I feel it’s a personal choice.
