Batman: I always imagined it would end differently, but yet less ignominiously. To drown in my own anniversary cake!

       I.           Remembering The Caped Crusader

Those were the words of the caped crusader in an episode of the 5th season the 1960s Batman series.  Growing up in the 70’s and early 80’s, I loved watching the re-runs of Batman!  Some lines from the show are forever carved in our hearts. Like whenever Batman would say; “Quick! To the Batmobile!” Or agrees with Robin… after he says, “holly Bat” statement and Batman says, Precisely, Robin!  At the end of  each episode of Batman, the narrator leaves viewers with a cliffhanger to Tune in tomorrow—same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!”

Sadly, this hero, Batman, played by Adam West died at the age of 88 Friday night in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukemia, a family spokesperson said.

West died peacefully surrounded by his family and is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives. He was and always will be our hero,” his family said in a statement. ~ Hollywoodreporter News Adam West Dead Batman

One of my favorite Batman Quotes:

Robin: Where’d you get a live fish, Batman?
Batman: The true crimefighter always carries everything he needs in his utility belt, Robin.
Batman , Season 2 Quotes. (n.d.). Retrieved June 11, 2017, from

Something about the show and how silly it was yet how serious they tried to act (adding to the wild humor of the show) always connected with me.  He was cool, no super powers, no magical gem, ring, or crystal. All he needed was thinking power, and his utility belt.  If the show could not give you a great moral lesson or you get a history lesson or even a grammar lesson as in this quote below from season two…(where else would we get one?)

Robin: You can’t get away from Batman that easy!
Batman: Easily.
Robin: Easily.
Batman: Good grammar is essential, Robin.

 IV.            Holy Batman Quotes!

What about you?  Do you have any favorite Batman quotes?

Adam West about Batman: [In 2005] Batman was comedy, let’s face it. What I loved about Batman was his total lack of awareness when it came to his interaction with the outside world. He actually believed nobody could recognize him on the phone, when he was being Bruce Wayne, even though he made no attempt to disguise his voice.

Experience teaches slowly, Robin. And at a cost of many mistakes.
