Over the next few posts, I would like to check in on some of our past Mental Health Heros in a “Where Are They Now?” series.

Where Are They Now: 2012 Mental Health Hero – Natasha Tracy

I was a mental health hero is 2012. I loved getting my caricature — I had never pictured myself as a mermaid before.

Time goes by so fast because we are all so very busy. It’s hard to believe I drew Mental Health Hero, Natasha Tracy, back in 2012. How are things currently going for Natasha and how is she still inspiring us by her positive example and advocacy?

My advocacy has been going well. Since 2012, I’ve been named a True Health Champion by HealthiNation and was awarded an Erasing the Stigma Leadership award by Didi Hirsch. Additionally, I’ve recently written a book called “Lost Marbles: Insights into My Life with Depression & Bipolar.” This book currently is rated 4.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon and has received amazing reviews from people like Julie Fast and Jim Phelps, MD.

Bio:

Natasha Tracy is an award-winning writer and speaker from the Pacific Northwest. She specializes in writing about bipolar disorder, depression and other mental health issues. She is considered a major online influencer in both the subjects of depression and mental health in general. She recently authored the heralded book, “Lost Marbles: Insights into My Life with Depression & Bipolar.” Natasha has written the award-winning blog “Bipolar Burble” detailing life with bipolar disorder, for 14 years. She also writes “Breaking Bipolar” at HealthyPlace, which has garnered three back-to-back Web Health Awards. Natasha Tracy is also published on the Huffington Post, The Daily Mail and elsewhere. Additionally, Natasha Tracy is an accomplished speaker, having spoken for the National Council, the Mood Disorders Society of Canada, Mental Health America and many others. Natasha prides herself on providing accurate, well-researched, and trustworthy mental health information. She believes that knowledge dispels fear and works to educate others about mental illness and to eliminate the discrimination and prejudice people with psychiatric illnesses face.

In her own words…

I don’t just write at the Burble – I’m also a writer, speaker and social media consultant for hire. I work with companies and individuals to establish online platforms. I also speak at schools, businesses and conferences. Learn more about what I do.

Additionally, to the advocacy question, I should mention that I have spoken to more than 1000 people — from youth to adults — at places such as Mental Health America’s Annual Conference.
