Over the next few posts, I would like to check in on some of our past Mental Health Heros in a “Where Are They Now?” series. When I first started out blogging in 2008, Barry Erdman was one of a handful of online therapists that was sharing the idea and concept of Mental Health and Humor. He understood right away the full concept and gave me many resources. I knew then, I was not alone! Barry also shares the 2010 Mental Health Humor Cartoon eBook on his site and gave me this nice quote in the forward.
“I appreciate Chato B. Stewart for his creative artwork; a unique contribution advocating for the best mental health care with a smile. Thanks Chato!”- Barry Erdman (PDF)
In 2012 Barry was a Mental Health Hero, and drawn in a clown pants and shoes with me getting reading to jump through the hoop. Recently I caught up with Barry.
Where Are They Now: 2012 Mental Health Hero – Barry Erdman
“Hi Chato! Yes, it’s been quite a while. 5 years? I’m still busy in private practice full time, seeing adults, couples, families, and now seniors with Medicare/Medicaid. (www.BoulderTherapist.com). I moved my practice to a new location about 2 years ago; still in Boulder Colorado. I now provide individual and group clinical supervision to therapists working towards licensure.
Next year, I will train Colorado social workers to becoming expert clinical supervisors. I now also offer crisis response critical incident debriefing and consultation for companies along the Rocky Mountain front range.
Ketogenic nutrition and lifestyle change continues to be an important interest and personal passion, as it relates to improved physical and mental health treatment. I continue to manage “Interface”, a monthly educational group for clergy and therapists (www.InterfaceBoulder.org) now in it’s 40th year! My recreational and social activities continue with hiking, biking, skiing, and now also kayaking and playing the drums whenever possible!
Best regards to you and your readers. -be”
