Such an interesting article! Some mums see their daughters as an extension of themselves, not the autonomous or separate human being. I learned years ago that I had to detach myself from my mother and just lead the life I wanted. Approval was a big thing for me growing up; if mum was happy then I was happy. If I did something she did not like then “love” was taken away. Lots of push/pull in the relationship. But I’m doing the healing now for me.
