The Power Of Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  God

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” God

Sometimes in life, we see no solutions to our problems. That is where faith kicks in.

faith photoOkay, so the first thing we must understand is that our life here on planet Earth is a learning experience. That man is given free will and that he can do as he pleases. If you look at all the terrible things on planet Earth, war, poverty, famine, you will see that the root cause is man’s evil. If we simply “did unto others as we would have done unto ourselves” we would eliminate ninety percent of our problems.

Next, we must understand that there is more than this life. That in the eternal run the only thing that matters is one’s status in the next world. Our status will be judged by how we performed in this world. To quote the words of Jesus “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was homeless and you took me in….” Something to the effect, that you had a love for others. Love must be our priority.

So knowing that this world is school and that it is very temporal we can understand the great evil the pervades this place. I don’t like it. I wish children wouldn’t starve to death and I wish wars of conquest weren’t raged and the list is extremely wrong. But the only way I can change things is in my own little microcosm act in a proper fashion. To be kind to others, to show love, to forgive, not to get angry, to be patient, to be giving, to be a friend. In summation to help out your fellow man.

Of course, just to be conscious of these things takes a great measure of faith. Sometimes the world seems so cruel and the evil so great that we cannot believe in a God of love. Sometimes the suffering is so intense that we can’t even imagine that we will make it to tomorrow. But when we get through these dark times, if we learn the correct lessons our faith will grow. It is like a runner training. Initially, it is hard to run a mile, but after much effort and practice, the runner is running five miles.

The idea that you will indeed succeed is a very powerful and potent thought. When one has an optimistic attitude good things happen. Opportunities will open up. If one is pessimistic they will not even try. When somebody gives up on life than there really is no hope.

How do you know that success isn’t just around the next corner? How do you know that tomorrow won’t be the best day of your life? After all, in life people do succeed, don’t they? There are millions of successful people who have achieved their dreams. I am confident that if you asked them if they knew for certain that they would be successful that if they answered honestly they would confess that they had some measure of doubt. But they all pressed on, if they didn’t they wouldn’t be where they are.

I am a big Neil Young fan. I heard him talking about when he took his band and left his hometown. He wanted to bring with him, certain musicians. Unfortunately, some of those musicians didn’t have the courage to try and chase their dreams. Right then and there they failed, they had no faith.

Faith is having the courage to make the next step even though you don’t have the whole picture figured out. Faith is trying your very best even though everything seems hopeless.

Let us complete the circle. It is obvious that some of us will fail in chasing our dreams. In fact, the majority of us will fail.  But if we understand the real purpose of this world then success and failure is measured by a different standard. That standard is how you are judged before God. With that in mind, we can say “What profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his very soul?”

So give life your best effort. Ultimately you only lose when you quit. Fortune, fame, money, position, and power aren’t really all they are cut up to be. What really matters is the quality of your person. If you learn how to fight and persevere you will both enrichen yourself and be an inspiration to others.

Here is a book of my dreams. It took me thirty years to write my book called “Without The Music” In it are my best song lyrics. The book is very reasonably priced containing 560 pages. If you have a musician friend in a band buy this book. They will find great material to work with. https://amzn.to/2MQoyZu
