It Ain’t Rocket Science

“Because something is happening here but you don’t know what it is,  Do you, Mr. Jones?” Bob Dylan

“Honesty is such a lonely word, Everyone is so untrue,  Honesty is hardly ever heard, And mostly what I need from you” Billy Joel

The world is broken. Mental health problems develop not necessarily because of nature but because of nurture. Obviously nature plays a big part but nurture does as well. But we live in a society where what is normal isn’t really healthy.

Rocket Science photoWe live in a society that places the value of material things over the value of human beings. If the human beings are foreigners or of darker skin color their worth diminishes all the more. If we label them as ‘terrorists’ they might even lose their status of a ‘human being’.

I was watching the news where they were mourning about the death of a young girl in New Jersey. The second such child to die from the flu in our fine state. I have nothing but compassion and sympathy for the young child and her family. But what about all the other atrocities that are happening around the world? From the millions starving in Yemen to the decimation of rain forest in Brazil as the invading marauders kill the indigenous people, there is a lot of evil going down.

Of course the time on the news is limited and a judgment call must be made. Still I’ve seen repeated stories for several days about the dog contest going on. There is a joke that talked about the propaganda in Russia versus the propaganda in the United States with the difference being that in the United States we fall for it. And in all honesty there are some things going on that I am not sure what is real.

For example the whole idea of Russia interfering with our elections and exactly how? Of course the United States probably interferes with all elections throughout the world and their cry is hypocritical. Still it is a disputed thing. I am quite confident that Israel interfered more through their methods but I can’t prove it. Still I don’t think anybody really denies that Bernie Sanders didn’t get a fair deal but that doesn’t seem to matter to the powers who control the news.

So what matters? Well let’s put on the very top of the list as anything that threatens the survival of mankind. The world is in an environmental crisis and Fukushima is still a serious problem. Endless war is another. Of course we never had a period of time where we had peace on Earth. However with the invention of weapons of mass destruction there are about a dozen countries that could push a button and kill most of the life on planet Earth. But let’s break it down more, what drives people to do these things?

“The Love of money is the root of all evil.” So a simple solution is that we eradicate greed.  I don’t see that happening any time soon. That is the plight of the left. If anybody becomes a rebel to the point of notoriety they are simply bought off by the right. Of course if they can’t be bought off they are imprisoned or killed. If you doubt that please do a very deep study of the labor movement in this country.

So in the end the man or woman that will change the world is the person you see in the mirror. Whatever you contribute is very much appreciated. I have learned in the midst of my suffering to be very careful to interact with people in the utmost kindness. You see this world is full of problems and most people have something taxing their minds. I see far too much indifference, bitterness and outright cruelty.

Speaking of rocket science this is a perfect introduction to my science fiction book “I Should Have Been A Rock Star”
