“Look up what do you see, blue skies or gray clouds? I see the rainbow!” FeatherLeaf
When we are children our lives our very skewed towards our on personal experiences. After all it is the only thing that in our young lives that we have experienced. However when one grows old they meet new people, they travel to different places and are introduced to new ideas. Many ‘white’ people deny the existence of ‘white privilege’ not even understanding what it is.
My Introduction To The Concept
I remember when I took a Greyhound Bus and hitchhiked cross country. It was an eye opening experience to me. The biggest thing I learned is that people aren’t always rude and mean. Something happened to me on the final leg of the bus ride home. I was sitting in my seat on the bus when I overheard a conversation by two African Americans. They were talking about that evil ‘blonde haired, blue eyed devil’. Where did that come from ? I wondered.
What Is Systematic Racism
Systematic racism is that there is racism inherent to the system that favors ‘whites’ over people of darker skins. It is in the government and in all aspects of life. Some manifestations are being denied a job, being pulled over by a police officer, being watched while shopping at a store, being shown a place to live in a certain neighborhood, getting severer prison sentences for a crime and so forth. This is not saying everybody in society or all ‘white’ people are racist. Unfortunately some ‘white’ people are racist without knowing it.
Proving Systematic Racism
Systematic racism could be proved through simple observations or mathematical statistics. I read a book about the death penalty which calculated all variables making them equal. That is it grouped people with identical economics and severity of crime and so forth. The results were that people of darker skin were more likely to get executed all factors equal. Stop and frisk in New York City is another example. ‘Darker’ colored people were more likely to get stopped and frisked. However simple observation will show you racism. I recall at one job that I had all the higher paying jobs were held by ‘whites’ or ‘Asians’ while the ‘Spanish’ or ‘blacks’ held the lower paying more physical jobs. Also I can take a drive in different neighborhoods and see the quality of care given or I can see a photograph of the United States senate and take a look or perhaps examine who wins and gets nominated for Oscars or see who fills up our jails.
What Is White Privilege
White privilege is the concept that based solely on your skin color alone you have a chance for better opportunity and better treatment in all areas of life.
Does Reverse Racism Exist
Though this concept is so ludicrous I saw a recent poll where over fifty percent of ‘whites’ feel they suffer discrimination. It is true that there are government programs and other benefits that favor or help out people of darker skin color. Many things that seek to prove ‘reverse racism’ such as people of ‘darker’ skin receive a disproportionate amount of government assistance is a myth.
How And Why?
The United States will built on the genocide of the ‘red’ people and the slavery of the ‘black’ people. In truth both of these programs have never come to an end but rather they have manifested form. Treaties made with Native Americans are ignored and violated making them totally worthless. The criminal justice system incarcerates a vast number of ‘African Americans’ either extracting free labor in prison while in jail, or relegating to lower paying jobs because of the presence of a criminal record.
Systematic racism is designed by the powers who control society to pit poor people against one another. Instead of poor people uniting to fight for their common good they are simply divided by race to fight each other.
What A White Person Can Do?
Dismiss your prejudices and treat all people like human beings. Understand that people have different perspectives in life. Open your mind that a lot of what you learned historically is probably a lie.
Black, White Or Red?
I have studied the matter extensively through historical books, biographies and personal experiences. As a citizen of the United States I was indoctrinated in the ‘white’ point of view. Part of my mental illness was coming to terms with the shocking amount of distortions and lies I was told. I ask you to make your own studies in the matter. If you are a ‘white’ person I assure you it will be an eye opener.
