Its important for aging adults to have a solid social support system (close family and friends) The inevitable deterioration of the the body coupled with the likelihood of loss of friends and relatives and potential remorse or regret over choices made in the past can facilitate a depression. Its important for the people within the social support system to maintain a healthy relationship with such a person to help prevent depression from occurring or aid in its resolution should it occur
