What’s a Picture Worth to You?

The following was originally a Facebook post, but I thought it good enough to share with my readers.

Feel free to connect with me on Facebook — Be Well,  D6

Dear Reader/Viewer,
I embarked on this little project today to release some creative energy. While talking with my mom, who was upset about how she looked in a new shirt, I started taking her picture as she processed the experience.

Her first reaction was fear mixed with anger (top left)

Her second reaction was doubt and questioning (top right)

Her third and fourth reactions were immediate responses to my saying “Mom, you’re beautiful and you’ve lost so much weight. You’re more than one shirt.”

Her final reaction took a moment. What you don’t see is her looking slightly down (last expression of doubt) and then her looking up with a smile (center) as she realized “she is beautiful” no matter what.

“A picture is worth 1000 words” is the old saying.

Today, most profile pictures are worth one word (mine included): FAKE

If you really want to share with the world. Share your whole self and not just your smile. If you start to do this, you might just smile for real next time.

A photo for thought,
Daniel Six II
