Dealing with mood disorders — such as clinical depression — is rarely an easy thing for a person. Depression just doesn’t take away your energy and motivation — it lies to you about your future, stripping away any hope for your “old” life.
There’s no dearth of advice about how to cope with depression. But given how common depression is as a mental health concern, I don’t believe there’s a single approach that will work for everyone. You need to try out a whole bunch of things and find the ones that work for you.
Living and coping with depression presents daily challenges. I believe more can be done to share some of those challenges with others — and how to successfully overcome them.
That’s why I’m pleased to introduce the Coping with Depression blog with Lauren Walters. Lauren is a writer and a graduate student in the field of Mental Health Counseling. You can learn more about her here.
Please give Lauren a warm Psych Central welcome!
