hmm. That’s interesting. I’m not sure I can believe that botox could successfully treat depression. It seems that botox may make someone feel better about themself for a few days which may help alleviate the depression in the short term, but once the newness wore off, I think the depression would be just as bad as before, and maybe worse because now they have spent a lot of money on treatment and still don’t feel any better. I think that it may have a placebo effect, but other than that doesn’t seem like a useful treatment. If I could see a well-controlled study proving otherwise though, I am open to changing my opinion.

As someone who lives with depression, I would be willing to try most anything to help me be the person that I want to (vs the
person that I am while dealing with a bout of the disorder).

With that said though, I’m not sure that I’d be willing to endure facial injections, not matter how small the needle, to administer the dose. I don’t oppose it but its just not right for me, personally!

I would try it. The science behind it is fascinating. I’m looking forward to reading the book to see if there are any downsides as well.

I would absolutely be willing to try Botox as a means of treating depression. I have lived with Recurring Major Depressive Disorder for pretty much my entire life. I have tried nearly every antidepressant you can name over the past 20 years. The ones that I have responded to have always worked great at first, but eventually, I always seem to become habituated to them after about 5 years, at which point, it has always become necessary to change out and try a new regimen. Recurring Major Depressive Disorder is the most difficult form of depression to consistently treat. I would be open-minded and willing to try just about anything to see if it works for me and would have no issues with trying Botox for this purpose.
