Hmmm, my personal list of sad songs I love to listen to

Coldplay-Yes the Scientist can be a downer, but even more so would be “A Rush of Blood to the Head,” at least it does it for me. And “Amsterdam.”

    Virtually anything by Pink Floyd

    U2-“Running to Stand Still,” “Bad”

Tears for Fears “Mad World,” but the version that was in “DOnnie Darko” is MUCH sadder

Neil Young’s “The Needle and the Damage Done”

The Who’s “I’ve Had Enough,” “Can You see the real me,” “Helpless Dancer” — all from their Quadrophenia which is actually in part about mental illness, something a lot of people don’t know.

“Hurt” was written by Trent Reznor and released in 1994 on the Nine Inch Nails album, The Downward Spiral. It was covered by Johnny cash in 2003.
