Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian at the 9.02.10 CelebrationKourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick may have just welcomed their third child but things are anything but happy in their home. In fact, as of right now, the couple have split and Disick’s belongings have been moved out of the family home. Sadly, sources suggest that his continued battle with addiction is a major reason for their troubles.

Short Rehab Stint in March

Earlier this year, it seemed that Disick was making progress towards gaining control over his life. This past March, he said: “I’m ready to truly remedy this struggle I continue to battle” as he entered rehab in Costa Rica. There was speculation that he left the treatment facility before his program was completed but, at the time, he denied these reports. He explained: “The funny thing is, a lot of people were under the impression that I was going to this rehab facility in Costa Rica for a month, when the truth was, I was going for a week for one treatment that they have there. I’m not done. I plan to go back to this place.”

While he said that the facility was “beautiful” and “amazing,” he said that he didn’t have the time to stay for three or four weeks but that, despite many people warning him that he “dropped out early,” he was happy with his progress and planned to return. He added: “I’m a work in progress and anything that I can do to better myself, I’m trying.”  A month later, Kourtney backed him up and told E!: “I think he has been on a really good path.”

Shorter Rehab Stay in July

One week may have seemed short in March but it’s still a lot longer than he stayed in rehab last week. On July 5, 2015, he checked into a facility in Florida only to check out just a few hours later. The 32-year-old was seeking help after being spotted partying and spending time with other women during a trip to Monte Carlo. His behavior abroad worried friends who urged him to seek professional help but his attempt was, unfortunately, very short lived.

Missed Daughter’s Birthday

While reports of trouble were already circulating, things seem to take a significant turn for the worse when he missed his daughter, Penelope’s, 3rd birthday celebration at Disneyland. The little girl spent the day with her mother, aunt, Kim Kardashian, and cousin, North West, while her father took to Instagram to share a collage of her pictures with the caption: “1 of the only things I’m proud [of] about myself. Happybdayp.”

Family Fallout

Kardashian family matriarch, Kris Jenner, expressed sadness over the situation and told Entertainment Tonight this week that her daughter is “hanging in there” after pictures of Scott with his ex-girlfriend, Chloe Bartoli, surfaced from his Monte Carlo vacation. Meanwhile, his brother-in-law, Kanye West, is reportedly, “furious” with him for how he has treated Kourtney and their three children. The rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan seem to be doing their best to be supportive of the suddenly single mother as she navigates her way through this difficult time.

Signs of Trouble

There were signs that things were not going well for the couple. Last December, Scott purchased a 3.7 million home in Beverly Hills. The deed was reportedly in his name only despite the fact that Kourtney was pregnant at the time. He was also extremely inebriated at a Montreal nightclub in recent weeks and could not bring himself to do a meet and greet with fans.

Some speculate that Disick was unhappy about his growing family, a theory that seems to be supported by footage from Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Last season, he reacted badly when she told him she was expecting again. In response to her announcement, he said: “You just keep suckering me into these kids. I can’t handle all of this responsibility. I just can’t take care of more kids.”

It’s a sad end for the couple who have been together for a decade. It’s never good to see a family split up but, maybe, this will motivate Disick to get the help that he needs. If not, Kourtney has to do her best to take care of herself and their children. Hopefully, things will improve for them.
