LOS ANGELES - MAY 12: Justin Bieber arrives at the "Wango TangoThere are few faces more recognizable than that of Justin Bieber. In the time since he first emerged on the scene, he has enjoyed a level of fame that most can only dream of – and he’s just 21 years old. In recent years, he has been in trouble with the law, involved with feuds and has disappointed his fans. Some have attributed it to not being able to handle life in the spotlight but others have pointed to the fact that he’s still so young.

It is unlikely that we will ever understand what it is like to be famous but Bieber recently revealed that he struggles with an issue that many have experienced. He has faced depression.

There’s a lot of pressure to continue delivering great material which can be further amplified in certain situations. Bieber knows that his reputation has soured with the public and he realizes that his career could end as a result of some of his actions. As a result, he told Ryan Seacrest that he wants his new album to be perfect.

The young singer stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday where he teased that the first single will be called “What Do You Mean?” In discussing the creative process, he said: “‘I’ve been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound – a cohesive sound. I get in my head a lot, and I get kind of depressed because I want it to work so badly.

“I want people to love it. I want to inspire people and sometimes I feel like, ‘Is this good enough? Is this the direction I want to go?’ I had kind of a rough week last week. I get in my head and I don’t want to get out of bed sometimes.”

Fortunately, he does feel good about the upcoming track. He told Seacrest that he “worked really hard on it” and that it “is amazing.” While Bieber describes it as “up-tempo, fun, and summery” he also concedes that there is meaning behind the lyrics. He explained: “Well, girls are often just flip-floppy. They say something and they mean something else. So… what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking!”

Many people around the world can relate to feeling depressed, sometimes on a daily basis. It can be hard to cope with intense emotions, especially when it seems like so much is at stake. Bieber is trying to rehabilitate his career but he’s also transitioning into a different stage in life. He’s not a teenager anymore and he has to figure out how to stay in touch with his fans while being true to who he is today.

It’s been three years since he last released an album and Seacrest asked the young singer how he felt about getting back to work. Bieber admitted: “It’s stressful, but I’m ready.”

Whether you are a fan of his music or not, no one wants to see someone struggle. Hopefully, his time away from touring has given him an opportunity to reflect on his life and address any important issues so that he can focus on what makes him happy.
