One thought on “Dark World Of Suicide: 17 Things I’ve Learned

I really liked your number 6– not every thought of suicide is a “red flag” that a person needs help. I have a lot of anxiety, but I’ve never been depressed or suicidal. However, I commonly have a repeating thought that “Oh no, what if someday I kill myself? That would be terrible!” I know some people with OCD have thoughts like that as well. It has, at times, led me to research suicide, and get really fixated when a celebrity dies by suicide.

I am not at risk of suicide. But the constant drum beat in the media that says “If you’ve ever had a thought of suicide, it’s an emergency! Go call 911!” definitely increases my anxiety, and also makes me less likely to talk to a loved one about my anxious thoughts.
