Letting the thoughts float through is a first step to controlling how we think about situations and people. The effects of changing one’s thoughts can alter attitudes and perceptions — and feelings.

Doing something different is healthy. I remember the first Christmas after my mom died. Instead of our usual holiday routine, my partner and I flew to the east coast and spent time with family and friends back there, creating an entirely new holiday scenario. It got me through the season that year.

    Thanks for this helpful post.

Thanks for a great example, Annis!
