    I don’t know what to make of my child (15) who in the past suffered from mania as a result of taking SSRI medication for debilitating anxiety. Now the issues are mostly due to depression. I don’t dare have him try an anti-depressant, but he suffers, academically, socially, and within the family.

    I was not aware of SMD. I have a young adult in my family that is being treated for BD and recently began to wonder about anohter in the family. Was unusre if I should make mention of it because their behavior changes and mood swings are not quite as extreme the one being treated for BD. Obviously the preferred choice is that they are just going through teen age stuff sometime you know when it’s more than that.
