My depression became so severe that I became suicidal and had ECT treatments. That was in 1998 and now I feel so grateful to be healthy and happy. Life has never been so good and I value it so much more because of my memories of the darkness of my illness. I appreciate things that I used to take for granted.

Depression has improved my eyesight. Seriously. Both eyes have improved by +0.25 due to not being able to read or work due to depression. I find this quite amusing.

trust me i personal know how bad it sucks to suffer from depression, But also in the crisis stage a bonus is that you can be a light for some someone else who is going through something you are going through. Like you prove you have lived through this and they can too.

Positives . One knowing that the feeling is just that a feeling coursing through my body with a sharp eye on the trail ahead pushing beyond what is “normal” but knowing it is ones own “normal” using the power which lies in this state to “feel” the moment all of it to its core an remember that it doesn’t control how you use it . You do . Me? I ride! A long long long distance most times in the winter months(I live in Alaska) using both ups an downs as a wonderful tool too enjoy the wonders nature has to offer. Reaching 100% depression so low that one starts to think those horrible thoughts( yes every one you know the ones) an turning it around or using it for power is yet another “high” for me. I can’t explain but yes at one point at a younger age I would hide an seclude my self . Now having known an been aware of this “feeling” I use it as I would mania. I still have days I want to be alone but most people like or need a little alone time what you do an how you think is the difference. Again in a depressed state being alone an proving to myself that it’s a state of mind an that the power is in me to use , I have always only known it as normal .
