    I have bi polar disorder, though it isn’t always an easy thing to except, to believe I am soooo different from other people. I sometimes wonder , how do other people feel? I too have a lot of feelings and find myself living in the extreme from time to time. I’m not sure if its from my disorder, but I also have panic attacks, though, they spring randomly, mainly when I want to SLEEP! I can’t think of any consistent triggers, they just come. My opinion about panic attacks, is that there is no cure, its our bodies natural response, to our feelings or thoughts. I’ve learned to just let them have a place when they occur, I don’t try to fight them anymore I just except them, and use a lot of self talk , like, “you are safe” and breathing deep breaths feeling my stomach fully expanded. The key is to make yourself believe you are safe and realize its just a passing storm, that comes and goes, its not your fault, its just they way you are, its nothing to be ashamed of, its how you were made. Acceptance is the ultimate key I am learning about over coming panic attacks, in that I realize that they are just that harmless panic attacks. Spend more time thinking about what thoughts are true and which thoughts are just un-logical jargon from your imagination! lol, hope this helps you in some way =)

    I had my first panic attack when I was 13. I am now 48 and am still getting them even though I take 2mg tablets, three times a day of klonopin. I really enjoyed the article and it reach a part of me that has not been touched for awhile. A bit melancholy. The comment was helpful too.

    Hi. I have bipolar2. I’m on buspirone for anxiety as well as my other bp meds. I can identify with what you are saying about people not getting what it is like. I know anxiety is our bodies natural response to stress, but a whole truck load being dumped onto you at once doesn’t help us! I also feel things very deeply. I am an extremely emotional person.I find I get overwhelmed by my emotions. I notice from your bio on twitter that you have ocd as well as bipolar. My adult son has severe ocd. He is currently attending a cbt course in a small group of others. Bipolar and ocd are probably the mosth misunderstood mental illness out there.

    “It’s a good thing to feel.” Tell that to someone who just lost a limb in a car accident.
