    I met my therapist, who is a psychiatrist, 18 years ago when my GP referred me due to depression and anxiety. At first I was terrified but he immediately got me started on the right meds which brought some much needed relief. Early on we agreed to be completely honest with each other. My father died in May 2015 and I have been in therapy since then. His death caused complicated grief, breaking down the wall I used to stay numb, so I am learning about feelings and how to communicate. We are currently working on childhood issues which are the nucleus of my anxiety. My therapist is always respectful, doesn’t judge me, and validates my feelings and pain in a way a family member or friend could never do. He has saved my life.
