This article doesn’t address the title question completely. I also have not found that depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD or any anxiety disorder or personality disorder responds particularly successfully or consistently to treatment. Sometimes depression spontaneously remits, sometimes the “treatment” never ends and the condition continues to worsen (though not necessarily linearly). I have no way of knowing if all the prescriptions I’ve followed have made my life or my health better or worse; I can’t be my own control group.

@candyclouston: You’re correct that the article doesn’t address all aspects of the title question. And treatment for OCD “usually” works very well, but it can vary a lot from person to person. Thanks for your comment.

    Hello,
I have just found your site and it looks really good. I have lived with OCD for around 35 years. I agree with your article here. OCD manifests itself in various ways and there are several different types of obsessions attached to OCD. Good article. Oh, may I please mention this site as a recommended site to visit from my site (put a link to your site on mine)?
    regards,
    Paul.

A coinkidink? (or not) that I’ve just re-read one of my favorite paperbacks…Kissing Doorknobs. My OCD has never really left, just been “in the background” on and off for decades. It is rearing it’s ugly head lately. My husband of 25 years has no idea I have this and I’m terrified he will find out. And he will. Any advice?
