    In rural areas of the U.S., there are almost no qualified cognitive behavioral therapists. That’s reason number 1. Reason number 2? Money. I have none.

    Jude, brilliant reasons. I think the author needs to make that 8 reasons.

    Sometimes psychotherapists don’t see connections outside of their own world, nor understand the economic and social context in which their work takes place. 😉

    I will add another reason: to think that you will be able to overcome your anxiety problem by yourself by reading documentation and with enough strong will. I was wrong…

    There are many reasons why people avoid treatment for OCD and many articles written on the topic. I, for one, did not realize how prominent the reasons of lack of money/health insurance coverage and shortage of competent therapists are until people commenting on my blog told me….
