    What a wonderful message & how liberating it was!
    Sometimes secrets are kind & necessary to avoid causing pain to fellow human beings…..
    Other secrets are damaging .
    Thank you for this posting. It’s made me both forgive & reflect.

    This is a thoughtful article. I would like to add that shame is more about a sense that there is something wrong with who we are – – – something innate. We have gotten the message that our essence is flawed. Guilt is when we do something flawed and we know it. Shame is far more difficult to heal from than guilt.

    Along the same line of thinking as Miastella, here is an easy way of summing up the differences between shame and guilt: Guilt is when one thinks: “I’ve DONE something bad.” Shame is when one thinks: “I AM bad.”
