One thought on “The New Normal: Boomers and Job, Financial Stress

Oh yeah – times have SO changed. My Mom worked really hard over the past 20 years as an RN (she was married and home with little kids for the first 20!), she just retired (about 2 years ago now) and is finding it quite challanging to be retired – financially. I think the “golden dream” is kind of over – I think most of us are going to live and work longer – so we better be doing somthing we enjoy! I think also because the cost of living has changed so much as well. My Gramma was a teacher mo9st lof her working life and saved enough money to retire “on time” and spend every winter (including owning a “winter home”)in Florida – on a teacher’s salary! And Mom – who spent 20 years as an RN, the lst 10 in a specialty, can barely afford to go out to buy new shoes when she needs he, My sister just bought her a vaccuum cleaner because she couldn’t buy one. So, the cost of living HAS affected thre retirees too. And is IS stressful. Anyway – that’s my two cents!
