    I’m always tentative when I am around people that are very good at apologies.

    This is a good article, however, there should be another point. Make your apology personal. It bothers me to receive an apology that starts with the words: “I’m sorry if…” as in “I’m sorry if I made you angry.” That puts the onus on the person receiving the apology as if he or she was in the wrong for getting about the action that needs righted. Leave out the “if” statement before the apology.
