After your last article, I was convinced I needed better meds, and I was so filled with anxiety that I checked myself into a short stay psych hospital. I was fortunate enough to meet with a knowledgeable psychiatrist who spent at least an hour a day each day helping tune up my meds. I went from 20 mg of lexapro down to 10 mg of celexa – a huge drop. Yes, he agreed that high doses of SSRIs do indeed make you more anxious. After 12 years off of slow release Dexedrine (advised to quit), I went on 10 mg slow release. He added 1 mg of Tenex twice a day and Inderal 10 mg twice a day. Blood pressure meds in small doses reduce cortisol levels. My brain has been restored. Thank you for your article(s). Very successful wake up call.

Pka58, thank you for your comment — I am really moved that the article was helpful in reflecting on your situation. It’s not easy to be so proactive about seeking out the right treatment, so kudos for that. Best wishes as you go forward on this new path.
