I’m a 58 yr old woman who is waiting for an Autism assessment. Four years of working with young women on the Spectrum I constantly heard accounts of life and struggle which mirrored my own in a way which stirred me deeply. I have a history of mental illness, eating disorder, bullying and a sense of being from another planet. Relationships of any kind are deeply challenging, but some how, I’ve managed to remained employed well over the years… my decision to seek assessment is about wanting to make sense of my past and live the rest of my life well.

Thanks a lot for sharing your story, Siobhan. I think that’s really what a diagnosis comes down to: making sense of the past and using that insight to positively affect future. Best of luck!
