I am exceptionally fortunate to now be living in a county where our district library system waives all late fees (though not damaged/lost fees) for a $1 donation to their charity of the month. Even if I didn’t love my community enough to stay for other reasons, this late-fee-waiver program might be the one thing that would still keep me here!! My husband still rolls his eyes at me over just HOW late books can get, but at least I’m no longer draining the bank account with my behavior. Also, I love the ebook/audiobook apps my library offers – I can borrow more books than I’ll ever be able to get through in the allotted rental period, and they automatically get returned at the end of the lending period, so I don’t even have to do anything. Technology is amazing.
That’s awesome! I might move there. I’m sure the difference in library fines would more than pay for my moving expenses. 😛
