  • Four quick points in reaction to this post:

    a. I am sure that your readers are pleased that you felt like you made such good psychological progress with Roger. I am, for one.

    b. When you asked for your records, he shouldn’t have equivocated about giving them to you by bringing up the “jargon” piece. You have a right to them under HIPPA and applicable state law.

    c. You wrote about your leave-taking: “Having never been involved in such a deep relationship with a therapist, I wasn’t sure what my options were.”

I think that your therapist should have worked through these options with you. His giving you merely two months notice before you were terminated foreshortened the possibility of this happening. It’s a shame.

    d. The blog reading. Nothing you wrote above made me feel any differently. A request for permission to read a blog at the last session has nothing to do with therapy for you and everything to do with the needs of the therapist. That’s backward. Your points about the inclusion of blog-reading in therapy? Well-taken.

    Nice post.

  • I believe that as long as you don’t feel violated in any way, you’re OK. ;)

Don’t feel like you have to justify or explain anything to anyone.
