Every Monday features a tip, exercise, inspiring quote or other tidbit to help boost your body image. For many of us, Mondays are tough. We may feel anxious and stressed out, anticipating an arduous week, especially if we didn’t get much rest and relaxation during the weekend. These kinds of feelings don’t create the best environment for improving one’s body image. In fact, you might be harder on yourself and easily frustrated. You might even feel like you’re walking on egg shells – with yourself! With these posts, I hope you’ll have a healthier and happier body image day, that’ll last throughout the week.
Got a tip for improving body image? Email me at mtartakovsky@gmail.com, and I’ll be happy to feature it. It can be anything you do that’s healthy and helps boost your body image. I’d love to hear from you!
Have you ever said the following to yourself?
- I was bad today (about what you ate).
- I’m embarrassed to go out because I feel too fat.
- I’ve let myself go.
- I’m ashamed to eat in public.
- I’m too ashamed to be seen in public.

I loved loved this post. And it’s a reminder I always need. Xoxox
I have just started ED counselling, which I hope is going to make a difference. As things stand right now, I can’t even go past a mirror without calling myself all kinds of derogatory names which I won’t mention so I don’t trigger someone else.
The shame is overwhelming and has been embedded in my life for so long that I don’t know what it will take — or if it is even going to be possible — to change my thought process. Hopefully, one day I will be able to let it go.
@ Marzipan, thanks for stopping by! I’m so glad the post resonated with you. It’s a reminder that I need, too.
@ Terry, that’s great that you started counseling. I’m so sorry that you’re struggling right now. But please know that it will pass, and you will get better. Recovery is hard work but it’s very much possible. The important thing is that you are getting treatment. I wish you all the best, and thank you for your comment!
Hi there,
I’ve sent this article to a few folks who’ve said they’ve found it help so thanks for such a concise and helpful summary of some key issues.
My point is that parents have a huge role to play in body-image. I was bullied as a child and teen but I’ve always had a foundation of good body-image because of my mother’s regular and enthusiastic praise. (She also praised my gifts, talents, intellect etc). My mother struggled with diets all the time I knew her, but that didn’t rub off onto me as body-anxiety.
So parents – praise!
