creative joy, single heart, 2012

In honor of Valentine’s Day, here’s a little reminder of the love within each of us.

Whether I’m fat, thin, tall, short,

Smaller or bigger thighs,

Wrinkles or supple skin,

I am love.

Whether I am wearing exhaustion like a faded, tattered robe

Or my cheeks are rosy and my eyes well-rested,

I am love.

Whether I’ve had salad or two brownies

Worked out or not,

Checked off my to-do list

Or lost productivity in the wind,

I am love.

Whether I’ve laughed, cried

Or felt the fury of a thousand disappointments,

Made a mini or gargantuan mistake,

I am love.

Whether I’ve surpassed or never satisfied my expectations,

Lost weight, gained weight, no change

I am love.

Whether life is going swimmingly

Or I’m drowning in a sea of stress,

Whether it feels like everyone is ahead of the game,

But me,

I am love.

Whether I can touch my toes or lift 10 lb. weights,

Whether I can stop the slimy stories from swirling in my head,

Or buckle under their overwhelming power,

I am love.

Size, shape, situation,

Appearance, achievements,

Doesn’t matter,

I am love.

I am love.

I am always love.
