On November 2, 2009, I published my very first post on Weightless. I really can’t believe it’s been three years since I began this blog. This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I’m not exaggerating.
By the time I started writing Weightless I’d made peace with my body, after a very, very long battle. I’d stopped dieting, and I stopped bashing my body and myself. For the most part.
But I still had sooo much to learn. I still do. Thanks to this blog — where I get to interview scores of amazing authors, bloggers and clinicians — I’m constantly learning and growing. I’m constantly healing. I’m constantly learning to take better care of myself.
That year, in 2009, I’d already lost my dad and being able to pour my heart and energy into Weightless was a relief. It was precisely what I needed.
Today, to celebrate the big 3, I wanted to go back and share some of my favorite posts.
And as a thank-you for reading Weightless, I’d like to buy one reader a positive book on body image, eating disorders, self-acceptance or really any other topic you think you’ll find helpful.
I’ll pick the winner at random using random.org. All you need to do is comment below, and let me know what book you’d like! You’ll have until next Thursday at 11:59 p.m. EST to comment. (One comment per person please.)
If you’d like a few ideas, check out 7 of my fave books. I also love Sunny Sea Gold’s Food: The Good Girl’s Drug, Anna Guest-Jelley’s Permission to Curve, Mara Glatzel’s Body Loving Homework, Jennifer Louden’s The Woman’s Comfort Book and Susannah Conway’s This I Know.
Again, thank you, thank you.
