Wonderful, and well stated post! I've been emotional eating for most of my adult life. When I focus on the present, and my very real need to lose weight and control my eating (I'm a diabetic and 67), I decide that my emotions are just that, not the definition of who I am, and i let them be. Also, I allow myself a small treat that is healthy-dried fruit instead of cookies, and today, Thanksgiving, a small piece of pumpkin pie instead of potatoes, etc. As Stephanie stated, I'm not convinced that skinny people are any happier, just thinner!
