I just stumbled onto this website which seems fantastic. Lots of great information in down-to-earth language. Sonia knows whereof she speaks. And as I was reading, I saw that you had mentioned my book IN SESSION. So thanks for that.

Thanks! I'll definitely check that out. I've read a few Irving Yalom books and really enjoyed them so someone else's perspective would be great too.

Beth, if you are interested, one of the best books I've ever read on client/therapist relationship is called "In Session - the Bond Between Women and Their Therapists" by Deborah A Lott.

I find the client-therapist relationship fascinating so I'm always interested in reading more about it.I can't help feeling that you're being awful hard on yourself for caring about your therapist so much. What I've done is I've tried to embrace it at the same time as respecting its limitations. I guess I'm playing therapist now, lol.

Anyway, I've always seen my love for my therapist as a beautiful thing. I'm looking at #6 and while I have experienced the feelings associated with romantic love, I've never seen him as perfect. In fact, I've always admired him that much more for being human and flawed at times.

I guess the biggest insight for me throughout all of this would be what my feelings mean about me. I think every time I look at him, I'm reminded of the very best in me. So in his eyes is a mirror of my greatest potential. And that's a gift I'll always keep...and one that he helped me to discover. So, yes, I see things much more clearly now.
