It’s time for the monthly panic, anxiety, and phobia support group phone call. Led by Grace, a longtime panic sufferer living in the DC area, the call is open to anyone and everyone who is experiencing a problem with anxiety or its close cousins.
Here are the details:
Please note that the 559 area code is for central California and it may be a long-distance call for some of you. Check with your telephone provider if you have any questions. There is no fee to attend the meeting.
Here’s what the meetup setup is typically like: first, Grace will lead all callers in a round of introductions. You don’t have to participate if you don’t want to, especially if it’s your first time calling — you can just quietly listen. Everyone who is willing to do so can share their name, their anxiety disorder, their location, and other brief details.
Then, once everyone has introduced themselves, Grace opens for the floor for “shares” — more detailed discussions of what’s going on in your life from a panic/anxiety standpoint. While one person is sharing their story, no cross-talk is allowed. You can take about 3 or 4 minutes to share this month’s successes, struggles, or anything else that’s relevant.
After the shares, either a guest speaker or the moderator will lead the group in meditation or breathing exercises.
Once the meeting formally concludes, callers are welcome to stay on the line and chat informally as long as they’d like.
