Are you living with Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD), Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Eating Disorders, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Schizophrenia or Social Phobia? Or a host of other mood disorders or brain “dis-ease”? If so, then you are a peer.
In my world, you are more than a peer. You become a fruity-delicious and juicy PEAR! Bursting with empowerment for recovery.
What makes peers ready for recovery? Pear fruit ripens with age and needs sunlight and water to grow. You could liken this to the “Age of Understanding” our diagnosis. The sunlight would be shining a light on our diagnosis, and we grow as “peers” with knowledge. Sometimes, we are bitter like an unripened pear. This could be due to the mental health system or from other factors that are taking the joy out of finding recovery. It happens to all of us.
The key is not to let the outside world affect your main goal as a peer, which is to find the sweet nectar of your life and feast upon it!
Jump on in the salad bowl of life and let’s make a fruit salad. No nuts allowed, just PEARS (peers).
