Clint Rayner Mental Health Hero 2010 Cartoon-A-Thon for Mental Health Awareness Month.

I recently got an e-mail from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Florida Department of Children and Families.  It was from Clinton Rayner, the director who oversees all the Mental Health Consumer and Stakeholder Affairs for all of Florida.

It was so encouraging to me I wanted to share it, and hopefully to set a precedent that many others will follow… I need outside validation. So send me lots of encouragement.

Need to smile, laugh or just feel good for a few minutes…

Chato has been a friend, partner and advocate to the consumer and stakeholder communities for years. His cartoons, ability to laugh at the not so funny issues (including his own) and his comical approach to life’s challenges have just been downright hilarious but more importantly, we all know a comedian can say and talk about any issue… because after all it just the way we look at life. :)

I was fortunate enough to be the subject of his comical pen as one of the Mental Health Heroes a couple of years ago and I still have his cartoon on my wall. Actually looks better than some of professional photographs, definitely more hair.

I send this information and his invite to join his world of advocacy (a great website and resource) as an outreach of recognizing the ability to get back up because after all ‘It’s no big step for a stepper”. So take some time and become familiar with his bountiful basket of laughter.
